How To Be a Great Mentor

We all know that mentoring has been proven to empower the potential of youth, but what makes a great mentor?

In this TED Talk, teacher and internship program director, Kenneth Oritz, shares his thoughts on what is needed to develop successful mentor relationships to raise up the next generation of leaders.

Throughout his nearly 15 years of experience teaching and mentoring youth, Kenneth’s key points on what make a great mentor are:

  1. Give time to your mentee. Be patient.
    2. Have a plan on how you will mentor and guide your mentee.
    3. Be encouraging. Promote positive behavior.
    4. Give constructive, corrective advice, followed by examples and instructions.
